Percolators Explained: Showerhead, Lace-Sphere, Recycler and More

mrb0ng explaining bong percolators

A percolator splits smoke into lots of small bubbles. More surface area means more cooling and filtering. Here are the common types.

Showerhead

A vertical tube with slits around the bottom. It's an efficient all-rounder that's easy to clean and doesn't add much drag. You'll find it in the Freeze Pipe Bong Pro.

Sphere / Lace-Sphere

A ball covered in holes that diffuses smoke in every direction. It's great filtration in a compact space, like the Entry Bong.

Recycler

Water constantly loops between chambers, so the smoke keeps getting filtered. It's ultra smooth and fun to watch. See the Bong Ultimate.

Tree and matrix

These have lots of arms or holes for heavy diffusion. They hit smooth, but they're harder to clean and add drag.

Do you need more than one?

Usually not. Every extra perc adds drag and cleaning time. One good perc plus a glycerin coil gets you more cooling than three percs alone.
